Audiobook Review: Kiss and Don’t Tell (The Vancouver Agitators, #1). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Kiss and Don’t Tell by Meghan Quinn

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Five hockey players, a cabin in the woods . . . and little old me, Winnie Berlin.

Sounds like the start of a fantasy, right? But it’s not. It’s my reality.

It all started when I got lost in the middle of the Canadian Rockies. A wicked thunderstorm sent my car mud sliding into a ditch and for a girl whose survival skills involve finding the nearest Starbucks, I was in deep trouble.

Forced to abandon my car in search of help, I stumbled upon a cabin in the middle of nowhere. Soaking wet, irritated, and in desperate need of a hot shower, I knocked on the door for help only to be greeted by five boisterous, burly, and insanely attractive men.

Not just men.

Professional hockey players.

I hit the motherload of fantasies, right? Wrong.

Because as it turns out, one of them is my ex-boyfriend’s half-brother. And when I end up crashing in their spare bedroom for the night, things take a very unexpected turn.

I’m not sure any amount of survival skills can protect my heart from Vancouver Agitators star goalie, Pacey Lawes. But as long as we kiss and don’t tell, maybe everything will be okay . . .

Kiss and Don’t Tell

Interesting forced proximity, sports romance!

Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Winnie – she went on a trip, for once without her friend and “personal bodyguard” Katherine, who worries about every eventuality, and ends up stranded in a storm in Banff. She filled her backpack with as much as she could, including some food and water and left her car. The first house she finds is filled with a bunch of hot hockey players.

The Hero: Pacey – he is goalie for the Vancouver Agitators, and he is on summer vacation with his four teammates and is ruminating about the last game and the last goal he missed which made them lose the game and get knocked out of the playoffs. They are at the mansion like cabin in Banff Canada that is owned by one of them.

The Story: Pacey and Winnie both see that the other is kind of familiar, but don’t know from where. Winnie doesn’t watch hockey, so she doesn’t think that is why. It isn’t long before Pacey figures out that he knows Winnie because she is the ex-girlfriend of his half brother, with whom he dislikes and has never really had a relationship with.

The story was cute and funny, and the character development was terrific. I loved all of the supporting characters, each of the hockey players had a distinct personality and I liked them all. Winnie has a bit of self consciousness due to her last relationship and kind of a dork. Pacey just really likes her and wants something more with her from pretty early on. The funny thing is that despite the fact that Winnie sees herself as a curvy girl and is self-depreciating about her body, she still wears a thong. So from my point of view, she must not think that badly about herself if she is willing to wear a thong in front of a guy she likes.

I liked the backstories in this book. Winnie recently lost her mom after a prolonged illness where Winnie had to move in with her and care for her. Pacey was hit hard by a puck and got a head injury that not only caused him severe migraine headaches, but also left him a bit afraid of the puck which is not great for a star goaltender.

This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Jason Clarke and Vanessa Edwin. Jason Clarke is one of my favorite male narrators. He has a deep gravelly voice and is great at doing different voices for different characters. Vanessa Edwin has a pleasant voice as well.
