Cyborg’s Strict Protection by Corin Cain
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I will protect the wild starlet – whether she likes it or not.
Cyborg’s Strict Protection
Trilana: I’ve spent my life being told what to do. My only escape is the Haunt, the hideout where stars let loose. I’m not going to let some beast of an alien cyborg stop me.
He’s a machine, not a man.
Late thirties. Broad, powerful, with stony skin that’s inhuman. He makes grown men look like little boys. His jaw is like an anvil, his fists hammers, his eyes gleaming with an inhuman glow.
If I didn’t know better, I’d think he has some Aurelian in his DNA, the alien species infamous for their brutality, mating rage, and their absolute need to find their fated mate and tame her.
Trilana, the character I’ve played for the last ten years would never be attracted to him.
So why do I instinctively want to do everything he says?
Unit 5001: I’ve been linked to her since my eyes opened. One purpose. Keep her safe.
I don’t care about her reputation. I don’t care about her billion-credit contract with her bosses.
Her life depends on doing exactly as I say. I’m going to make certain she does. When she disrespects me and runs away up to no good… I know exactly what she needs.
But when she gives me a name – I ache for something more than just protecting her.
It’s utterly forbidden, but I want to claim the one I was built to guard.
Nice quick Cyborg story!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😔😃😤😋🥰
The Hero: Unit 5001 (a.k.a. Tonas) – he is the first cyborg in his line to be activated and he has been imprinted with the DNA of the woman he is to protect. The scientists have lowered the possessiveness from the former models but upped the protectiveness to compensate. Since he will be in the public eye, they got rid of the Scorp blood and added in more Aurelian DNA to create him. His one purpose is to keep his ward safe.
The heroine: Trilana (a.k.a. Ash) – she has been a celebrity since she was fourteen when her management found her singing in a choir. Her personality has been instilled in her ever since, though she is not as confident as she portrays herself to be. She has been featured on Universal Billboards top 100 many times and is the star of many holo vids. Her parents saw dollar signs instead of their daughter and signed her life away ten years ago, ensuring her a life of fame and fortune. She thinks of herself as a blight on the universe.
The Story: Trilana’s life is carefully coordinated by management. It is dangerous for her to be out in public. She is required to post to social media and one wrong word or unflattering picture could screw things up and cost her sponsorships and spots on the charts. When her entourage is attacked and she is nearly kidnapped, Unit 5001 saves her in the nick of time, and she learns he is her new bodyguard.
This story was a good one; I didn’t think I would like it at first since I am not too fond of celebrity romances. Though I really liked the fact that Trilana is just a fake persona that she puts on in public. She hates her life and is stuck in it for the next five years since her parents signed a fifteen-year contract when she was fifteen. If she leaves before the contract ends, she forfeits rights to future royalties. There were times when she was not likable at all, though she had reasons for that and overall, I really liked both characters.
The attraction between them heated up a bit too fast for my liking, though this book wasn’t all that long at only 168 pages, so everything moved a bit quickly. Though the story was good and felt complete. I enjoyed the story and there were plenty of super steamy scenes.
