Audiobook Review: My Temptation (Kingston Lane, #1). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Temptation by T.L. Swan

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Enter a world of luxury, lust and love with this scorching first title in T L Swan’s provocative and witty Kingston Lane series.

The first time I laid eyes on Henley James, I was mesmerized.

The chemistry between us was like nothing I’d ever felt.

Impeccable suit, dimpled smile. He was charming and gorgeous, sophisticated and suave. He gave me his business card and asked me to call.

His dating game was strong; I was gone from his first smile. I’d love to tell you our date was a raging success, but it wasn’t. Far from it.

I decided right there on that day that Henley James and I would forever be mortal enemies; I would never think of him again.

Three years later, I bought my dream home. I’m so excited to meet my neighbors—that is, until I do.

Oh no! What are the chances?

It’s him. Still single, still the hottest man alive, and still obnoxiously sarcastic. He saunters around wearing next to nothing and refuses to close the blinds at night.

I will not let myself think of him at all costs. It could be my sanity.

My temptation is a nightmare.

The heroine: Juliet Drinkwater – she is a nurse. One night she goes to a fundraiser ball with her friend and notices a very tall, handsome man. She is immediately attracted to the man and finds him staring at her throughout the night and he ends up asking her out on a date at a swanky restaurant.

The Hero: Henley James – He is an engineer who owns his own firm, he lost his mother when he was fifteen. He hangs out with all of the men on his block. They live in a cul-de-sac and one of the neighbors put a putting green and a barbecue in the center and all the neighbors hang out there.

The Story: The date between Henley and Juliet goes extremely well, and things get super steamy at the end of the night. It was the best night of her life. They make a date for the following night, but he stands her up and her friend tells her that he showed up at the club she was at later that same night. The next day Juliet sees Henley again and her brother pretends to be her fiancee to get back at him.

Three years later, Juliet buys a new house which she plans to renovate. She got an inheritance from her grandmother and was able to buy a fixer-upper in the best neighborhood in Half-Moon Bay. She plans to adopt a dog the next day, now that she has a house to live in. As she is going to bed, she sees in her neighbor’s upstairs bedroom and is disappointed to see that her neighbor is none other than Henley James. Immediately they have a contentious relationship, it isn’t helped by the dog she gets that keeps the neighbors up at night.

I have read many books from T.L. Swan and I really like her stories. They are mostly about the relationship between two people, and I like that they are just about that. In this one, Juliet and Henley started out with a bit of a misconception, but even after that gets cleared up there are issues. Henley is a severe commitment phobe and Juliet decides she wants him long term and isn’t afraid to go after what she wants even if it means she has to pretend to be someone she isn’t. She makes him think that all she wants is to be friends with benefits. I think a lot of women do that, telling the men what they want to hear, while hoping for something more.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by C.J. Bloom and Marcio Catalano. C.J. Bloom is a good narrator, though not one of my favorites, she kind of sounds like she is overacting a bit. I like it when they sound more natural. Marcio Catalano is great. He has a sexy deep voice, and this was probably one of the first books that I have listened to with him as a narrator. I liked it.
