The Hero: Jace Davies – he was expirimented on as a child, held in cages with his counterparts and tortured in order for Dr, Deitrich to creat a race of super soldiers that could do the work of more than ten regular soldiers. He was freed from the lab seventeen years ago when he was fifteen years old. Now he works for the government on a highly efficient special ops team that is run out of Black Bay Penitentiary that tracks down illegal facilities like the one in which he was raised.

The heroine: Paige Carter – she lives a nice ordinary life and doesn’t respond well to things outside of her comfort zone. Her father was a Navy man and her brother had been a SEAL who was killed in action last year. Her mother was fragile since Grady died. Paige was a nurse who had just started at a new medical complex last month and now lives in the apartments next door.

The Story: while on a mission to report on a new facility where Dr. Dietrich has been seen,
Jace messes up and gets caught breaking into the facility without having reported back to his team. In the process of escaping, he is shot several times and ends up crashing through a balcony into the apartment of Paige Carter. The men after him show up and target her for death since they don’t know what, if anything Jace told her. Jace takes care of the threat, but now the two of them are on the run.

This story took some unpredictable twists and turns. Especially with what new things the Doctors were working on. I don’t want to give it away, but to say that I can’t wait for the next book. I was hoping there would be more in this series with some of the other enhanced beings, and more with the new experiments as well but it looks like there are only two books in this series so far and for some reason not many people are reading them. Hopefully more will, because I liked the story and there was plenty of steam, but not too much.
