Audiobook Review: Dragon’s Enemy Fake Fiance. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dragon’s Enemy Fake Fiance: A Paranormal Romance by Samantha Leal

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

For the Livingston Brothers being part of one of the most important families in Dragon history doesn’t come easy. Especially for Striker, infamous playboy and wanderlust dreamer who has had enough of small town life. He is more than ready to escape Misty Vale, but when his parents drop the bomb that they are going to withhold his trust fund until he settles down and gets married, Striker has to rethink everything.

A fake fiancé isn’t something he ever thought he would do, but when Audrey appears in front of him one night, he knows she’s the one to impress his parents, and they cut a deal. If she pretends to be his fiancé, then he will help her set up the business she has always dreamed of. It should have been easy… but what he thought he would do even less is fall in love with her for real.

Because it turns out, Audrey is Striker’s fated mate… but can their love survive their game playing? Or are they destined to burn?

Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Audrey – she wasn’t much of a party girl, but after what she had been through lately, she needed to get out and let loose. She took a few shots of peach schnapps, got herself all dolled up and went out to a club with her friend Beth. She recently broke up with her boyfriend Dylan after he told her he had been sleeping with other women. He had called her hideously disfigured because of a birthmark on her stomach that looked like a flame, which she had always been insecure about.

The Hero: Striker – He was from one of the leading families in the dragon shifter world. He was infamous for his wild ways and didn’t want to change anytime soon. However, when his parents tell him they are putting a hold on his trust fund until he settles down and gets married, he knows he has to do something. He just wants to leave Misty Vale and his overbearing father, and he also wants to implement some of his ideas at the family company. However, he couldn’t do any of that without his trust fund.

The Story: Striker had been in love at one time, when he was young. Though things didn’t work out and he never wanted to feel that way again. That was why he never wanted to be with any one woman for more than a night. When Audrey sees Striker and his brothers at Club Chaos, she isn’t impressed. She knew they had reputations of being heavy drinkers and womanizers. She also had heard that they were dragon shifters. She accepted that Misty Vale had secrets and legends and though most people don’t believe in the magical, Audrey had a knowingness about it all.

The story wasn’t bad, but the writing was pretty bad. I got a bit annoyed early on because things kept getting repeated over and over. Like their feelings about certain things, like Striker’s feelings about the ultimatum his father gave them, his feelings on not getting close to a woman due to his past girlfriend who hurt him, Audrey’s feelings about Striker’s reputation, and much more. The writing seemed somewhat immature, and I was surprised at how many books this author had written. I was almost sure this was going to be her first or second book.

This audiobook was done in dual points of view via solo narration. It was narrated by virtual voice. This was the first book I have listened to via virtual voice (computer generated audio). The voice was pleasant, and I was surprised at how smoothly flowed for a computer-generated voice. I kind of expected it to sound like reading word for word. However, it did sound conversational. My only issue was the fact that it was solo narration instead of dual or duet. There were a bunch of audible plus books with virtual voice, so I am sure this isn’t my last.
