Big Bossy Mistake by Lilian Monroe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Billionaire. CEO. Single dad.
Big Bossy Mistake
And, apparently, my date to Manhattan’s most exclusive ball.
I thought my invitation was a birthday present from my best friend.
The dress, the limousine, the red carpet… I thought they were meant for me.
That was mistake number one.
Then my date arrives, all gleaming cufflinks and tousled hair, steely blue eyes and a body honed to masculine precision.
Arrogant. Charming. Panty-melting.
And melt, they do. Hanky-panky with a rich hottie in the back room of the event I’m crashing?
Don’t mind if I do.
Listen, don’t judge me. It’s my birthday, remember? Nothing that happens tonight counts in real life.
Ha.
Right.
That’s mistake number two.
Because the next morning, I start my new job as the nanny for a high-profile client.
And my new boss, the owner of this swanky Manhattan penthouse, and the father of these two adorable hellions?
Yup. Mr. Hanky-Panky.
But the biggest mistake of all?
Staying with him.
Working for him.
Letting my guard down, falling for him…
And crashing. Splat.
Oh—then I find out I’m pregnant.
Good ‘single dad falls for nannie/surprise baby’ romance!

Romance: 💙🖤💜❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍
Character development: 😟🤭😘🥰
The heroine: Dani – Four years ago she was working for a company that was doing some less than legal things. She left her boyfriend and copied hundreds of documents, files and pictures and emails onto a USB drive as a way to protect herself and she ran. Dani has been running ever since. She has recently been staying with her best friend but refuses to eat any of her food except bread and butter. Tomorrow she is starting a new job as a live-in nanny to a billionaire and at least her contract provides her with a home and food.
The Hero: Emil – he is a billionaire who runs his father’s company which he inherited and is putting his mark on it. He has two young children, Francis and Talia. He has gone through 35 nannies, with none of them lasting more than two weeks. He has high standards and wants his kids taken care of by the best. His wife, Callie died two years ago and even his best friends think he has become overbearing since she passed away. Everyone thought she was an angel, only Emil knew that she had terrible secrets, and he has been dealing with that since she died, while pretending she was the woman everyone thought.
The Story: It’s Dani’s thirtieth birthday and her friend Bonnie sends a gift in the form of a bunch of women who come to get her all dolled up for a night out. They do her hair, makeup, nails and put her in a fancy gown. Then a car picks her up and takes her off to the summer ball, the biggest event of the year in Manhattan. She gets there only to find she is the date of the most handsome man she has ever met.
I liked this one more than I expected. The backstories for each of the main characters were interesting and I really liked how they intersected despite the fact that there were too many coincidences for it to be realistic in any way. I also enjoyed how Dani and Emil got to know each other an fell in love. They were both at just the right place in their lives for their overwhelming attraction to hit and the attraction turned to more over time, so that was great.
