Have Yourself a Beary Little Christmas by Violet Dawson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

She expected a quiet Christmas in the woods, but a super hot bear shifter has other steamy plans…

Valerie Bennett is still reeling from her ex’s betrayal when she decides to escape the city and spend Christmas alone in her late grandmother’s rustic cabin in the woods. But just as she begins to relax, a vicious wolf attack brings a handsome bear shifter into her life, awakening long-buried passions.

Rugged bear shifter Cole Banks never expected to find his fated mate in a heartsick city girl, but as he and Valerie spend more time together, their connection intensifies and their attraction blazes hotter than a yuletide fire.
With snowflakes falling and passions rising, can Cole convince Valerie that she’s the only present he needs this Christmas? Or will Cole lose his fated mate and any chance at happily ever after?

“Have Yourself a Beary Little Christmas” is a steamy, standalone bear shifter Christmas romance. If you’re craving a holiday novella with fated mates, forced proximity, and a super-hot Happily Ever After, this one’s for you! No cliffhangers, no cheating.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤💚❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 😚😔🤓😋🥰

The heroine: Valerie – she used to go to her grandmother’s cottage in Pine Ridge as a child but hasn’t been back for years. Since her ex-boyfriend Jack betrayed her, she thought it was a good time to get away from the city and back to her roots for the holiday season. She is a secretary at a law firm but wants some peace and quiet to work on her novel.

The Hero: Cole – He is a bear shifter that lives in a motel room in Pine Ridge and works at Home Sweet Home Furniture where he creates beautiful pieces of handmade wood furniture. Cole is a loner, and he never stays in one place too long. He plans on leaving Pine Ridge soon as well and doesn’t know where he will end up next. He has a sister and a brother whom he hasn’t seen in quite a while, and it is better that way. They don’t need a brother like him anyway.

The Story: Cole first sees Valerie in town, and he is entranced by how beautiful she is. He helps her out when she is nearly hit by an SUV after her grocery bag rips apart near her car. He thinks she smells terrific, despite the fact that she is 100 percent human, and he can’t get her off his mind. When he figures that Valerie might be spending Christmas all alone in her grandmother’s cabin, he knows he has to go make sure she is safe.

I know this was a shorter book, but I really liked the fact that despite Cole’s issues, he immediately wanted forever with Valerie as soon as he figured out that she was his fated mate. The romance was sweet, the sex was rough and steamy, and the story was very good for a short read. I really liked the relationship between these two and there is just something I really like about holiday romances around Christmas time. It is similar to watching all those Hallmark movies this time of year.
