The heroine: Chloe – she is a cougar shifter in a small Minnesota town called Stone River. The shifters in her town were very territorial and for generations have had a cold war going with the shifters of a nearby town of St. Doms. They were both big minor league hockey towns so much of the fights were about the hockey rivalry. Chloe comes from the bad part of town, her father is an alcoholic since her mother died and her brother Gabe is a hockey player who the captain of the Stone River Fangs, Blake will not allow on the team for some reason, though he is always hitting on Chloe.

The Hero: Luca – he is the star hockey player for the St. Doms Cougars. He is handsome and an alpha of his pride. He lives in a house with his three best friends who are also on the team and are also alphas. When he meets Chloe at a local bar, he immediately feels a connection with her, and they hook up.

The Story: though Chloe feels an instant connection with Luca and can’t get him out of her mind, she eventually gives in to Blake and makes a deal with him. Herself for one night and in exchange he will let Gabe play on the Fangs. Gabe has been at a loose end and has been getting into fights a lot since high school ended and all he wants is to play hockey. Chloe is the one that always takes care of her family, so she hooks up with Blake and though they use protection, she is worried once she finds out she is pregnant that the baby is his and not Luca’s.

The part about this book that I don’t like is the fact that Chloe goes to Luca and tells him she is pregnant, as there is some old law of the pride that says if someone is pregnant even if the packs are at war, they can seek asylum with the rival pack, and nobody will be able to say anything about it. Though she is almost sure the baby is Blake’s due to timing even though her and Luca weren’t using protection and her and Blake were. Though I did like how the story went and Luca was great.
