Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Mae – She is a fifth-year senior in college and she lives with her best friend Alice. They are both Supernatural and Mae was born out of a breeding program. She is a mix of a bunch of supernatural characteristics. Unlike Alice, who is a succubus, Mae doesn’t know what she is or can do. Though she does know that when she sings or hums, it affects men in odd ways.

The Hero: Corbin – He is a captain in the Immortal Ops, PSI-Ops program. He is a lion shifter who hasn’t dated in about a century, though his mother likes to try to set him up every now and then, so he finally agrees to go out with her latest setup. Her name is Mae and she is a senior in college.

The Story: On the day Corbin was to meet Mae for their blind date, he sees a beautiful woman on campus with dark hair, glasses and wearing a yellow dress. He is affected by her but doesn’t know why. He then goes to meet Mae, but on his way, he is called away by his work and can’t make the date. Meanwhile Mae and Alice go to where she is supposed to meet Corbin and both are kidnapped by the company, an evil enterprise that kidnaps, breeds and sells supernaturals.

Corbin and his team are after the Company, and they do their best to release any supernaturals they find. However, on their most recent mission, two weeks after the failed blind date, Corbin finds out that Mae is one of the captives and that she is the same woman he saw in the yellow dress. He is determined to find her and save her as he now knows she may be his fated mate.

The story was good and I really liked the world building and character development. I don’t really understand how these Mandy M. Roth audiobooks work, they are all very short (< 5 hours) but they say they are unabridged while the books are like 350+ pages. Other books similar to the same running time are only about 150 pages, so something is strange there. But the story felt complete and I did like it. It was told in dual points of view and narrated by Mason Lloyd who is terrific.
