The heroine: Dakota – she is an archeologist, well technically she is a historical sociologist and is looking for a relic that she had been searching for, for years and her mother before her had searched for most of her life. It is the crown of Ghengis Khan called the Khan Diadem, given to Khan by the King of Georgia in 1223, to try to get on his good side. Dakota’s mother was a real-life version of Indiana Jones who died of cancer not long ago and her prize possession was a map that traced the places and times in history the Khan Diadem was last seen.

The Heroes: Roman, Wade and Luke – Roman is treasure hunter, though he tells Dakota when he meets her one night in a bar that he is an insurance claims salesman. She believes him and they hook-up, but she later finds the truth and that is after he sees her map and gets a jump on where the relic might be. Wade and Luke are former Navy Seals who now work on mercenary contracts. They answer an add posted by Dakota for a job that should last a few weeks.

The Story: – Roman and Dakota find out that the relic might have been on an island that is nearly uninhabited, and the local government doesn’t like outsiders, so if she goes there, she should bring some security. Dakota does some research and finds that the island is home to 20-100 semi-modern inhabitants that are armed and hostile. So, Dakota hires Wade and Luke to protect her and help her find the relic that is so important to her.

I have to say, when I first picked up a reverse harem romance from this author yesterday called Snowbound, I was surprised at the detail in the story, and I liked it enough to try another from the same author. This story is even better, and I just love the adventure of the hunt for this ancient relic. It was much better than I expected and there is still plenty of reverse-harem steam as well.

I loved the fact that the further the group went on this treasure hunt for the Khan Diadem, the more they found out about the fact that it is quite possibly cursed. Since everyone that ever had it seemed to suffer in some terrible ways. Though Dakota kept insisting she didn’t believe in curses, even she started to wonder. It made the story so much more exciting. They traveled from place to place all over the world in this treasure hunt and it was quite the fascinating story.
