Review: Ghost Magnet by Holly M. Campbell. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ghost Magnet by Holly M. Campbell

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A shy ghost magnet with a past. A sexy ghost hunter with a reputation. And a vengeful ghost with a secret…to kill for.

College freshman Mary White is the newest member of the ghost hunting group, the Spirit Stalkers. But unlike the other hunters, Mary doesn’t need hi-tech equipment to communicate with the dead. She can see ghosts on her own.

When Mary is assigned to spend a few days in a creepy haunted house, only one other person is brave enough to volunteer with the annoyingly sexy Mark Ingalls.

But the ghosts in the house are guarding a dangerous mystery, one that eerily mirrors Mary’s past–a dark secret she’s tried to bury. As she and Mark dig for answers, Mary must confront figurative and literal demons. She must also learn to control her gift before the ghosts gain too much power.

Because some people–even dead ones–will do anything to keep a secret.

Ghost Whisperer meets Ghost Hunters!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💙🖤❤️💜💖
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌍🌎
Character development: 🤨😟😳😍🥰

The heroine: Mary – her dad died when she was sixteen and he was the first ghost she could see. Since then, she has seen a lot of them. Now she is a freshman in college and has three roommates who are starting to think their house is haunted since ghosts are always around trying to talk to Mary or get her to help with their unfinished business. Mary is also being intermittently stalked by her dead ex-boyfriend Colton, who is one of the only ghosts she’s ever known who could interact with the real world (i.e. move things or touch her).

The Hero: Mark – he is a ghost hunter, checking out potentially haunted houses with his team called The Spirit Stalkers. They have all the fancy gadgets like you see in Supernatural or Ghost Hunters, like EMF readers, voice recorders and more.

The Story: when Mary’s roommate gets Mark to come over and check to see if their house is haunted, Mark seems very interested in Mary. He later calls her and comes back with the rest of the Spirit Stalkers to check out the place, and they find that not only is there a ghost in the house, but it is there because of Mary and that she can see and hear it. They set out to help the ghost with his unfinished business and they ask Mary to join the Spirit Stalkers. Meanwhile, Mary is interested in Mark, but gets some information about him that makes her wary.

“Mark is not the kind of guy you want to get mixed up with. Back me up here, Bradley.” “It’s true,” Bradley said, and for once, sounded serious. “Unless all you care about is a good time. From what I’ve heard, Mark is a very good time.”

“True, but Mark is an adrenaline junkie, always on the hunt for something new and exciting. He’s not a bad kid. It’s not like he intentionally set out to hurt those girls. He doesn’t plan to dump them and break their hearts. I really think, deep down, he’s a romantic. He likes the idea of love. I think he’s easily infatuated. However, he’s also easily bored. Bad combination.”

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. Among paranormal romance there just isn’t enough books with or about ghosts and I liked the originality of this one. I loved the fact that it was about ghost hunters and had some psychic’s and a bit of a Ghost Whisperer vibe going on. I genuinely liked both of the main characters and there were quite a few great supporting characters as well, including Mary’s roommates, the entire Spirit Stalkers team and the ghosts themselves. I also loved the romance in this book, it was built slowly and I really enjoyed the fact that Mark kept telling Mary how beautiful she was to him.
