The heroines: Elise, Freya & Bron – her dream job was pouring over ancient manuscripts, digitizing them and helping the authorities in retrieving black market antiquities. Though jobs at the British museum don’t come up often, so for now she works in HR at a real estate agency. Her father passed away not long ago. One day, her workmate reads her cards, and Elise picks a fae warrior with long red hair and antlers, which her friend said was odd. Freya Scandinavian and is Elise’s cousin who has an antiquities store and is hired to find a dagger that is rumored to have the ability to kill frost giants in norse legends. Bron is Irish and comes from a long line of fae hunters who have a centuries long beef with Killian.
The Hero: Kian (a.k.a. The Blood Prince), Bayn (a.k.a. The Winter Prince) & Killian (a.k.a. The Night Prince) – Kian brought his people out from their imprisonment of 1500 years in Fairie. He took a human captive, the only one that saw him, when all the others couldn’t. Bayn is a grumpy and broody fae prince who wants a chance to break his curse once Kian found a way to break his. Killian is the oldest of the three brothers and is a bit of a black sheep.
The Story: On the way home from work, A fae army arrives, led by a prince with long red hair and antlers. They take Elise hostage while all the people around them were tearing each other apart without even being touched by the army. Kian hated humans but took Elise with his people to Fairie. He did not like slavery but made her his slave from the start so she would always be his. He was cursed and the curse is taking its toll. He thinks he will die soon.
Kian plans to eventually conquer Albion (England) to pay them back for their imprisonment. Elise does try to kill him at the very beginning, but she learned her lesson and ends up in some sort of magical cuffs. She is directed to clean the palace. Kian ends up learning that Elise has the blood of his enemy, she is a distant relative of the king that banished the fae. She is also key to removing his curse. He is cursed with the need to drink blood, Bayn has a heart that is slowly freezing, and Killian kills whomever he touches.
Each book in this series compilation features a different couple. I liked that Elise and Kian came first, their story explained much about the curses and reasoning behind them. Each story was cute in its own way, though I thought it was weird that each of the three women were from different geographical regions.
This audiobook was told in multiple points of view via dual narration. It was narrated by Lucas Webley and Michelle Sparks. They both have great voices and speak with a British accent. Michelle has a soft feminine voice and Lucas has a deep yet soft voice which is very pleasant. I am American, so I tend to like American accents better, but these two are great. I wasn’t too fond of the Scandinavian accent, but otherwise the narration was good.
