Audiobook Review: Hardball by C.D. Reiss. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

HardBall by C.D. Reiss

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Perfect ass.

Perfect arms.

Perfect swagger.

They call Dash Wallace the Diamond King.

He’s the hottest commodity in baseball and in the bedroom.

When he runs the bases, every woman’s eyes are glued to his stunning body and a smile that puts the night lights to shame.

I’m no queen. I’m a regular girl with a regular job. I just watch him on TV and from the bleachers, season after season.

Girls like me grab a guy like that one in a million times.

My number just came up, and he is as spectacular in bed as he is on the field.

But there’s not a woman in the world who can distract Dash Wallace from the game. Not for a moment. Not even me.

Until the night I do. And everything changes.

Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Vivian Foster – she is the librarian at an elementary school and somehow got roped into helping on a field trip for third graders to the ballpark for a baseball game when the bus breaks down. They were a block from the park where the Dodgers are playing today and are now signing balls for before the game. Luckily the bus starts and they make it, and Vivian barely makes it to get her ball signed. The ball is to be a gift for her father who is a major fan.

The Hero: Dash Wallace (a.k.a. the Diamond King) – he is the Dodgers shortstop, a very private sports star and solely focused on the game. He never gave interviews even after winning the golden gloves three times. He is also one of L.A.’s most eligible bachelors and quite a playboy to boot. He has recently had a string of bad luck and he had to get it all right again.

The Story: Dash says something that rubs Vivian the wrong way as he signs her ball and she tells him off. They don’t speak again until he show’s up at her school asking about his glove that went missing when her students were there, it had a pin on it that he couldn’t win without. Then Vivian goes with a male friend to a charity auto show and Dash shows up there as well. He can get her to help find his missing glove and he can get out of his dating slump at the same time.

I really liked this relationship based story and the intimate scenes were super steamy and sexy as hell. I loved the whole baseball superstitions theme. Dash was so worried that all the bad luck in his life lately would affect his game negatively. He was afraid if he didn’t keep things casual with Vivian and keep seeing the women that he met on the road each season, he wouldn’t have a winning season, though he knew if he told her that he would see other women that he would lose her.

This audiobook was told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Jo Raylan and Jeremy York. Jo Raylan has a terrific voice and shows her emotions very well through her voice, she also has a very good man voice, which is unusual. Jeremy York always does a great job. So this was a good one to listen to via audiobook.
