Audiobook Review: Berrr’s Vow (Zorn Warriors, #4). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Berrr’s Vow by Laurann Dohner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Kidnapped from Earth and transported to planet Zorn to be sold as a sex slave, Shanna is one angry, frightened woman ready to fight anyone who tries to touch her. Raised in foster care, she’s not going to take any crap off some alien men no matter how big, terrifying or muscular they are. Before she can be sold, she’s freed by a huge, sexy Zorn warrior…a warrior with the most beautiful blue eyes she’s ever seen. Shanna demands he take her under his protection when she realizes she’s stuck on Zorn.

Hyvin Berrr, the leader of Zorn, thinks humans are helpless and weak. Shanna decides to teach the big hunk he’s wrong by knocking him on his backside. He might think she’s playing but she’s trying to teach him a lesson. She’s not sure if she wants to fight her feelings for the sexy alien, though if a woman has to lose a battle, this just might be the one time to concede.

Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Shanna – Shanna was abducted by aliens and she has been fighting them at every chance, which they say will make her sale difficult. Though she promised herself not to stop fighting until she was dead. The three aliens that took her planned to sell her as a sex slave on the red planet they landed on.

The Hero: Hyvin Berrr – He is the leader of the planet Zorn. He has a bunch of grown sons and was bound to the same Zorn woman for a long time. She was a strong female who did what she wanted and always spoke her mind, often in the form of insults, despite the fact that Zorn is a highly patriarchal society. Since Hyvin’s sons found human women, they have been dropping one by one, each falling for the females from Earth. Though Hyvin thinks humans are too small and weak and not worth the trouble.

The Story: When some new men came into the auction after Shanna kicked a guy and screamed, an important looking man came in and shut down the auction, imprisoning the aliens that were selling her and killing their leader. Hyvin Berrr, the leader of the planet and leader of the raid on the auction, promised Shanna that she would be safe.

When the other men in Berrr’s service start fighting over Shanna, Berrr takes her away and she agrees to be one of his ‘house helpers’ it is pretty funny when she thinks he means housekeeper but really ‘house helpers’ are basically his mistresses. The miscommunication is hilarious as it goes on for quite a while.

I liked the story in this one though there was less action and adventure than in some of the other books in this series. The romance was better and I liked that the patriarchal society didn’t bother me as much in this one as in the others. Since Berrr was bound to another, yet separated there were issues that were hard to overcome, but I liked the fact that he had a bunch of ‘house helpers’ and that he threw them over for Shanna.

This book was told via solo narration and was narrated by Simone Lewis. She is doing a good job and has a very pleasant-sounding voice. I like her narration style, though I do wish this was done in dual or duet narration with a male and a female narrator.
