Audiobook Review: Dirty Groom (Slayers Hockey, #7). ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dirty Groom by Mira Lyn Kelly

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

It seems like a solid plan…

Get hitched, Vegas-style.
Lose each other’s numbers, permanently.
Avoid pitfalls of real marriage forever.
Until I sober up, and my wife is already gone.

It’s what we agreed to. But I don’t like it.

A year later, I find her. I have another solid plan to undo our mistake.

Only now, I’m not so sure the cocktail napkin with our prenup can protect me from the one thing I swore I wouldn’t do…fall in love.

The Hero: Liam – he is a pro hockey player for the Chicago Slayers on winter break on Christmas eve in Las Vegas. He sees an adorable little drunk woman. He is a well-known player but isn’t always recognized away from the ice. He doesn’t usually sleep with drunk girls but decided to play along when she talked about wanting to get back at her cheating ex. Her brush with love has been as crappy as his.

The heroine: Stormi – she had known her fiancee since birth, dated him through high school and found him cheating on her the night before their wedding. She goes to Las Vegas to find a sexy stranger to fall into bed with to get revenge on him.

The Story: Liam sees Stormi as a beautiful girl who deserves a lot more than what she got. They start talking about how they will never set themselves up for something like that again. They talk about how terrible it will be to go back home with their friends and family trying to keep them from ending up alone, when they get a great drunken idea to get married in Vegas.

A year later, Stormi has imagined their pasts crossing again, though she tells herself to ignore the thoughts and get past it. However, she actually comes across Liam outside of O’Hare airport and he follows her home. Though they promised to never see each other again after their tryst in Las Vegas. They didn’t even give each other their actual names.

This was mostly about the fact that their secret marriage was outed before they really decided what to do about it. They are getting to know each other throughout the book. It was a good story and I like the marriage in Vegas trope quite a bit, though I found my mind wandering during this audiobook, I am not sure if it was the story or maybe I was just tired or not that into it.

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Wayne Mitchell. I love Savannah’s soft feminine youthful sounding voice; she is a perfect choice for almost any romance audiobook. I don’t know that I have ever heard Wayne before, but he did a good job. I liked his tone which matched Liam nicely, though I must say I hated his female voice.
