Audiobook Review: My Torin by K. Webster. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My Torin by K. Webster

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m a freak, a misfit, an odd end.
Abandoned and unloved.
But my happiness is so close I can taste it.

Until he shows up.

Gorgeous, expensive, and all man.
Sad brown eyes and a brilliant smile.
And he wants me to go with him.

His intentions are hidden.
His motives are unclear.
Yet, I leave with him because there’s no happiness here.

What he promises feels too good to be true…
A castle. A fortune. And horses too.

It’s too easy.
Nothing in my life has ever been easy.

What’s the catch?
There’s always a catch.

My Torin

”Casey, Casey.”

Romance: ❤️💙💚💛💖

Character development: 😠☺️😋😉😍
Narration: 🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Casey – she was left in front of a church in a manger scene in the snow. A note was left with her saying her name and that she is sick (crack addicted). Nobody wanted to adopt her and she went into foster care. Now she is nearly eighteen and in high school, she wants to get out and get her GED. She is not a good student and has no intention of going to college. She has anxiety and ADHD.

The Story: After Casey gets her GED, a man named Tyler comes to pick her up from her foster home. He obviously paid off her foster father and offered her a huge incentive to come live with him. She plans on taking off as soon as she hits eighteen anyway, so she figures she might as well.

The Heroes: Tyler and Torin – Tyler is 32 years old and lives for his brother Torin. Tyler tells Casey that his younger brother Torin likes her and that is why he wants her to come live with them. Because people look at Torin the way people look at Casey. He has a deep sadness, but he obviously loves Torin. They are wealthy and live in a mansion with no windows and hidden passageways. It was custom built for the previous owners, a family that had a child allergic to the sun.

Torin is a hight functioning autistic, though Tyler says he is really smart and that he looks at Casey which he doesn’t do to anyone else. Torin is intelligent, though he knows that he is different. He knows his body doesn’t always behave like he wants. He is always buzzing, his voice is too loud, he can’t express how he feels and gets easily frustrated. Though he is terrific at research and helps his brother with the family oil business by doing research and helping make decisions.

This was an unexpectedly good book. Sort of a Disney princess fairy tale mixed in with some sadness and grief and while Prince Charming is totally hot, he is also very a lot more flawed than the average hero. A complete tearjerker but with a great story. I read it about five years ago and didn’t remember much about it other than a general impression of Torin and that I really liked it.

I love the fact that Torin is so smart and can express himself so well via email, but just can’t verbalize what he is thinking or feeling. He is actually Tyler’s business partner in the oil industry and Tyler says Torin is much smarter than even he is. This one had some surprises and I liked the little family these three made together.

This book is told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Ryan Gray and Lillian Claire. Ryan’s voice isn’t my favorite, I like a deep voice for the Hero, and his is a bit annoying to my ears, though not too bad. Lillian Claire also didn’t have the best voice which was a bit nasal for my tastes. Though I read this one a few years back and wanted to read it again, so I listened to it this time.
