Audiobook Review: Redson (VLG, #10) by Laurann Dohner. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Redson by Laurann Dohner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rescued as a child by her grandpa, the powerful Vampire Malachi, Emma has been on the run for nearly forty years from a Vamp determined to see them both dead. When he enlists the aid of assassins from the Vampire Council, their luck runs out. Forced to separate, Malachi sends Emma to a trusted VampLycan for protection.

Redson knows trouble when he sees it, and sure enough, the gorgeous, mostly human female seeking shelter immediately disrupts his future plans. His father swore a blood oath to her grandfather, and Red is honor bound to protect her. He’s surprised when his instincts demand so much more—protect…claim…mate.

Their attraction is explosive, but Emma refuses to consider mating while her grandfather is in danger. She needs Red’s help…but is he Malachi’s savior? Or his biggest threat yet?

The heroine: Emma – 36 years ago Emma and her mother were attacked by vampires from her grandfather’s nest, who killed all the humans in their neighborhood possibly including her VampLycan mother. Emma’s Vampire grandfather Malachi saved her, and they have been on the run ever since.

The Hero: Redson – he is a VampLycan (result of a mating between a Vampire and a Lycan). He lives in Howl, Alaska with one of the three VampLycan clans. His father was friends with Malachi and owed him a blood oath, though his father is now dead and Redson got his debts including the blood oath.

The Story: In the present time, Emma lives with her grandfather who is over 400 years old but looks like he is in his mid to late 20’s. People think they are siblings. When their enemies sent by the vampire council close in, Malachi has Emma pose as his blood slave until she can escape. She has to take off on her own planning to meet her grandfather later. Her grandfather has a VampLycan friend in Alaska that whom he told her to find.

Like the rest of the books in this series, this one has a strong female heroine. Emma was raised by a master vampire, so is used to the supernatural world. I liked the fact that Emma had some VampLycan traits from her mother. She was 40 years old and looked 20, she has healing abilities and is stronger, with better eyesight than most humans. They fall for each other pretty quickly and this gets steamy pretty early in the book.

This book is told in multiple points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Savannah Richards. She has a great voice and has done a fantastic job on this series. I haven’t even minded the fact that it was done in solo narration. She is terrific at doing multiple male and female voices, so it sounds like a full cast audiobook.
