Moon by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Dr. Joyce Yards has never met anyone as sexy or as irresistible as 466. He refuses to discuss anything except getting her naked beneath him. Their therapy sessions are growing hotter, his raw hunger for her is becoming aggressive, and she is falling for him. Joy knows the dire consequences if she gives in to desire. It will break her heart but she must walk away.
Moon
Moon has been drugged. He is feral and dangerous to everyone. The NSO doctors turn to the only female Moon ever cared about – the one who left him in the desert two years ago.
Moon isn’t the same male Joy once knew but she is willing to put her life on the line for him. There are no rules now. If sex tames the wild beast and triggers his fractured memories, allowing him moments of lucidity, then Joy will give him her body and her soul. She’ll do whatever it takes to save him.
Moon and his Joy!

The heroine: Dr. Joyce Yards – she is a psychologist who was in charge of the New Species when they were first rescued from the research facilities of Mercile Industries. One of the patients she had trouble with was #466. He would rarely talk in his sessions until one day he started talking about the fact that he wants to have sex and can’t find anyone to have it with. He was making Joy uncomfortable and wouldn’t stop. He started telling her just what he would like to do to her in every session. She found that she was attracted to him and couldn’t handle him, so she quit.
The Hero: Moon (a.k.a. 466) – He is New Species and is one of the most easy-going males that anyone has ever met. He is good friends with many of the other New Species and some of the human workers as well. However, in the attack on Reservation, he was shot with a tranquilizer dart which contained some kind of experimental drug from Mercile which completely changed him and made him feral. He tried to kill other New Species and it took four of them to subdue him.
The Story: it has been more than two years since Joy quit and she is asked to go to Homeland, where the New Species were headquartered, because of an issue with a former client. She finds #466 who has gone completely feral. He is out of control, doesn’t recognize anyone and has to be tranquillized much of the time.
I liked this one because Joy tried to be professional, but she fell for Moon two years back and when she was called back, she just wants to help him out. I liked Moon quite a bit in Obsidian’s book, he was funny and flirty and a good friend to Obsidian. He gave him all kinds of good advice as well. This book also furthers the plot about the former Mercile employees still being up to no good, by creating this new drug.
This book is told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Vanessa Chambers. Vanessa’s voice is pleasant, and I like her quite a bit. She is terrific at doing different voices for different characters and there are a lot of characters in each of these books, so that can’t be an easy job, but she does it so well.
