Veso by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Drugged and kidnapped by Vampires, presumed dead by his clan, powerful VampLycan Veso must rely on a creature he dislikes almost as much as the suckheads who nabbed him if he hopes to escape – a human. But when Glenda proves more resourceful than most of her kind, he agrees to see her safely through the Alaskan wilderness. He’ll have to fight an overwhelming attraction to the inquisitive beauty every excruciating step of the way.
Veso
Glen doesn’t know which is worse: learning she’s the distant relative of a Vampire who fancies himself a king (um…what?!), or the fact that said relative is trying to force her to birth his queen by mating her with a half Vampire, half Lycan. Veso is scary, has claws, but he’s also key to her survival. She just wishes that she didn’t notice all his muscles or the way her body responds to his. He has promised to keep her alive but she might lose her heart in the bargain.
The VampLycan and his human mate!

The heroine: Glenda – she had been kidnapped from her home and was held in a dungeon by vampires that fed on the people in the next cell. They told her that she wasn’t cattle like the others, that is why they fed her and let her shower once a week. A vampire named Vlad told her the master has a purpose for her.
The Hero: Veso – he is a VampLycan and part of the clan that was led by Decker Fillmore. Though he hated Fillmore and wanted Lorn or Lavos to take leadership of the clan, he was planning to help with that. Before that could happen, Vampires attacked him and took him hostage while he was out on patrol.
The Story: Glen finds out that the master is a king and he says he needs a queen. He tells her that he is distantly related to her as she was from his sister’s line. He wants her to get pregnant with his queen. He wants to design his own queen by making a relative with a family resemblance breed with a VampLycan. He plans to keep her in a room with the beast until she has a girl baby. If she has a boy, he will put the boy to work for him since he will be a relation.
I liked this story, since Glen was a human that had no idea about the supernatural before this happened to her. Also they had a good journey after they escaped captivity. Glenda was a strong female character and wasn’t prone to crying or whining when faced with terrible circumstances and fearsome paranormal creatures. It was also nice and steamy and the fact that Veso hated humans but couldn’t help his attraction to Glen made it that much hotter.
This book is told in multiple points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Savannah Richards. I have really been enjoying her narration and haven’t yet gotten bored with her narration or the storylines, I have binged these first four books in four days.
