Kraven by Laurann Dohner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Batina Dawson wants two things most in her life. She’s determined to become a partner at her law firm and secure her younger sister’s financial future. That’s why she talked Dusti into flying to Alaska, to mend fences with their terminally ill, rich grandfather. It seemed to be a perfect plan—until things go wrong.
Kraven
The plane crashes and their lives are saved by two large, muscled brothers. Kraven is a spiked-haired menace with a handsome face and a killer body. He also believes she’s in danger from her own grandfather, and that Vampires and Lycans once bred, making him a VampLycan. He even claims her mother was one too. He may have kidnapped Bat, but his misguided hero complex is almost sweet. She knows exactly what defense she’ll use if he becomes one of her clients. Insanity.
Kraven is frustrated. Bat refuses to stop arguing with him at every opportunity. She’s stubborn, mouthy, and oh so sexy. She might be right when she accuses him of being crazy—she’s driving him nuts. But she’s in danger and he’ll stop at nothing to keep her safe.

Narration Type: Solo Narration
The heroine: Batina – she was a high-profile defense attorney in Los Angeles. She has no problem arguing and has pissed off so many people that her firm hired security while she was in L.A. due to death threats against her. Batina and her younger sister Dusti were traveling in an airplane over Alaska when the plane crashed, and they got stuck with two brothers who turned out to be VampLycan Hybrids.
The Hero: Kraven – He and his brother Drantos follow the two girls onto the airplane because they want to use them to get at their Grandfather Decker Fillmore and ruin his plans to start a war between the clans. Kraven saves Batina from dying in the crash and she turns around and yells at him.
The Story: Batina turns into a raging witch when she is upset or nervous so didn’t make a good impression on Kraven. They instantly hate each other and trade insults quite a bit. Though he can give as good as he gets with her. Their back and forth was pretty good.
The backstory on this was pretty involved but suffice it to say that Vampires and Gargoyles can’t reproduce but Lycans can. When they found out, a bunch of VampLycans and GarLycans were born and now there are clans of each. Decker Fillmore is the alpha of one of the VampLycan clans and wants to wage war on the other clans but can’t unless he aligns with a clan of GarLycans. However, Drantos and Kraven’s clan is already aligned with the GarLycans. So, Decker wanted to give the GarLycan alpha one of his granddaughters in order to align with them and start a war. But Drantos and Kraven have been trying to prevent that.
The start of this story was very similar to the one in the first book but from the other couples’ point of view. Though it did change once the two couples separated. The story was very steamy and these two were pretty hot together. They were a bit more adventurous than Drantos and Dusti. I wasn’t too fond of Batina at the start of the book, I thought she was a bit of a shrew, but got used to her after a bit.
There was one scene where Decker’s enforcers were after them, and Kraven tells Bat to run and cross the river, that he will find her as soon as he can. It was almost the same exact scene as the one between Drantos and Dusti in the first book. Though the rest of the story is pretty good. Kraven and Bat go on the road to hide her from her grandfather, and I really enjoyed the story, especially since they found out more about the girl’s background.
This book is told in multiple points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Savannah Richards. I listened to the first book in this series and found that I liked Savannah’s narration quite a bit. Her voice is great, and I even think her voice for the male parts is fine, which is much better than most.
