Audiobook Review: Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Midnight Blue by L.J. Shen

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

It should have been easy.
I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death.
I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent.
The worst part is that I should have known better.
Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes.
“Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.”
Guess what? I didn’t listen.
I signed the contract.
World tour. Three months. Four Continents. One hundred shows.
My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god.
Problem was, my soul wasn’t enough for Alex Winslow. He ended up taking my body, too.
Then he took my heart.
Then he took my all.

Midnight Blue

Rockstar on tour with a hannie!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💚💜
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😠☺️😋😎
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The Heroes: Alex Winslow – he is one of the hottest names in the music industry, a rockstar who has recently been partying too hard and started to flame out. He was arrested for DUI, went onstage at the grammies, to dis the guy who won, and a ton of other things that the paparazzi have caught. He was supposed to go on tour 6 months ago and can no longer postpone the tour without having to pay millions to the promoters.

The heroine: Indigo Bellamy (a.k.a. Hot Nanny – Hanny) – she is twenty one years old and lives with her brother and his family. When she is offered a job paying $100,000 per month being a nanny to a rockstar, she couldn’t say no. She would have to make sure he stayed away from drugs, made it to appointments and on stage each night and basically make him behave. She has basically been a nanny to her two year old nephew since he was born, so how hard could it be to watch a grown man?

The Story: Indigo wasn’t the first sitter that had been assigned to Alex. He made them all quit within days and expected to do the same with this one. Alex had dated another famous girl named Fallon who he was still a bit obsessed with, and she still loved him, but she loved fame more and left him for his former best friend who is also a rock star.

The story was good and I love the rockstar on tour trope. It has some good forced proximity vibes and is so sexy. Alex was arrogant and wanted to use Indigo after he decided to let her stay, and it isn’t long before she becomes his muse, when he finds he can write songs again. Alex was super sexy, made more so by Shane East’s narration. Though it takes Indigo a while to fall for his machinations, I still wanted her to hold out longer, since he was such a jerk. It was obvious from the start that things would come to a head when Alex’s ex, Fallon came back into the picture with his ex-best friend who was sleeping with Fallon when she was still with Alex.

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Muffy Newtown and Shane East. Shane is one of my favorite narrators, he has a deep voice and his english accent is perfect for this one, he has just the right amount of haughtiness and sarcasm. Muffy is also very good, she has a very pleasant voice and does this thing where she is just perfect at showing anxiety through her voice.
