Audiobook Review: Tall, Dark & Hungry (Argeneau, #4). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tall, Dark & Hungry by Lynsay Sands

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Terri had flown from England to help plan her cousin’s wedding, but paying for a New York hotel room was like giving blood! But she had an the new in-laws were offering lodging.

Of course, the Argeneaus were a certifiably odd bunch. There was the sometimes chipper, sometimes brooding Lucern ― a “vampire romance” writer. There was the wacky stage actor, Vincent. She couldn’t imagine Broadway casting a more ravenous singing-and-dancing Dracula.

And then there was Bastien. Of this unique cast of characters, he seemed the tallest, darkest and hungriest ― and his effect on Terri was decidedly delicious. Just looking into his eyes made her want to serve up her innocence on a silver platter. And she had a feeling the love feast was about to begin.

Tall, Dark & Hungry

Bastien’s story!

The heroine: Terri Lea Simpson – she is the cousin of Kate, who was marrying Lucern. Kate had requested that Terri be the maid of honor and that she would help plan the wedding, so she is arriving in New York two weeks early to help. Especially since Kate and Lucern are overwhelmed with planning a wedding in so short a time.

The Hero: Bastien Argeneau – He was a responsible man. He was the one who stepped up after his father’s death to run the Argeneau Enterprises. He went to New York to prepare for Lucern Argeneau and to work out of the companies New York offices in order to get away from his mother Marguerite’s matchmaking. Now with Lucern getting married, she had turned her madcap scheme’s on him and was determined to find him a mate. Bastien had been alone for so long, since Josephine, the human woman he had loved and lost. He doubted there would ever be another woman for him.

The Story: Terri was arriving early to help out with the wedding, but really couldn’t afford the price of a New York hotel room, so Kate asked Bastien to put her up in his penthouse while she was there. He agreed since he had five bedrooms and would hardly be there himself. She also asked that Bastien and Lucern pick up Terri at the airport. Bastien was interested in Terri, but had his heart broken by Josephine in his past and didn’t want to go there again.

There were some great characters in this book, like Lucern who is a bit stuck in the past and is a romance author, Vincent who is an actor that recently got the lead role in Dracula, the musical. Also Vincent is a biter, who feeds off live humans, which is something I didn’t know about before this book. Bastien himself, is a bit staid and proper and I really liked him. Kate’s boss Chris (C.K.) was hilarious as well, especially when he got together with Vincent.

This story was told in dual points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Charlotte Claremont. Charlotte has a great voice and is a terrific narrator. I rarely listen to books in solo narration, especially ones narrated by females, but I started this series a few years ago at like book 26 and have gone back to it over and over because I just love the Argeneau’s.

I love the backstory of how their ancestors in Atlantis thousands of years ago were so advanced, they came up with nano’s which they injected into the bloodstream and these nano’s keep them young and in top physical condition, but blood is needed to keep them alive and keep the nano’s working. They are immortals, not vampires, but you know what they say, if it quacks like a duck…
