The Hero: Hunter – He grew up in a home with a meth addicted mother until being put in fostercare. He would be dead by now if it hadn’t been for his boss Gavriel Morretti who ran the infamous Bullet gang with an iron fist. Morretti hired Hunter when he was 18 and Hunter had become one of the best assassins in the business and his one weakness was Roe, whom he had been keeping track of and keeping safe since she was born.
The heroine: Roe – her father died the night she was born, her mother died when she was ten. She lived with her uncle and was a senior in high school. Known as the class slut, because she was a serial dater. When guys got too close she would kick them to the curb. On her eighteenth birthday, she goes to a party to get drunk and her uncle picks her up after work. The next day, they are attacked by a biker gang and crash his car. Roe wakes up in bed in a small dark room with no clothes on, bruised and battered with a cast on her arm.
The story: Hunter hired Mack eight years ago to protect Roe. She thought he was her mothers brother, but in fact he was a member of the Bullets gang who had once had a family. His daughter had died of cancer fifteen years previously so was perfect for the job. Though Hunter promised Mack that any injury Roe got would be given to Mack as well. He was brutal that way.
After the accident, Mack took Roe back home but she didn’t get an answer as to who the other man was that saved them and why they were attacked. She didn’t know that Hunter was always watching her and when she decided to run, he would find her.
“It was easy to forget how fucked up he was when he looked like a walking Calvin Klein ad.”
“I didn’t feel like a girl capable of claiming Hunter’s heart. I was his redemption, not the love of his life.”
This book was really good, it held my attention throughout and there was always something going on, no lulls between important events. I really liked both characters and I loved the fact that the duet was put into this one book. I don’t like the way many authors put one story into two or more books when it is just better to have it all in one. It seems like such a marketing ploy to get more money.
Some characters from Sunshine and the Bullets (another series by the same author) were in this book, so now I want to read that one as well. I put in on my TBR for later since this one was so good. I loved the fact that the road for Hunter and Roe was so filled with obstacles. It made things interesting. I love stalker romance and this was a good one. Hunter made a good stalker and I loved that he was stalking her to protect her.
