Audiobook Review: Alien Commander’s Mate (Fated Mates of the Xilan Warriors, #1). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Alien Commander’s Mate by Ava Ross

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An alien warrior made me an offer I can’t refuse. In exchange, he can do what wants with me for one week.

I want a child, but that’s impossible now that Earth men are sterile. Then a ping from a distant planet reaches us. Aliens are real, and they’re interested in getting to know Earth women better. The Xilans fall into an insatiable urge once every three years, called the Slaking, and there aren’t enough females to give them what they need.

Like many Earth women, I sign up. For one week, I’ll make an alien happy and in exchange, I get a child. As long as I keep my heart of out of the equation, things should go fine, right?

But when an intergalactic war erupts, we must fight for our very survival.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💚
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 😠☺️😋😍😎
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Lydia – she and her three best friends, Rose, Avery and Sammy, want babies and since a virus swept through Earth, all the men are now sterile. When an alien race contacted Earth, it seemed like the perfect solution. The alien race, Xilan didn’t have enough females and once every three years they go through a period called slaking which is basically when they are in heat and need women. So, there is a program to match each female to a Xilan male and they meet on a space station.

The Hero: Gorok – he is a commander of the Xilan forces and near to going through his slaking. He is not very attracted to human females, but he figures it is better than nothing, so he tries out the program. Though as soon as he sees Lydia, he feels things he is not ready for, like possessiveness and protectiveness.

The Story: The two main characters meet at a space station for the slaking. Gorok decided that if he liked his female, he may just take her home to Xilan to be his companion though he knows forming a true bond is a very rare thing so probably will not happen. He wonders if she sparked his heart fire and wanted to return to Earth, would he willingly leave her behind?

Gorok has trouble finding any female that stirred him until he sees Lydia. He immediately chooses her, and they get busy pretty quickly. Lydia was a bit anxious about Gorok’s ginormous member, but she adapted pretty quickly and was pleased, but right before he was about to finish, the space station is attacked.

From there on, the book was full of action. I love it when there is plenty of action and adventure in an alien romance. I know some people read them for the smut factor, but I like a good story and outer space adventure. I also loved the fact that there was a hilarious droid named T-Rex and a big purple jaguar like creature.

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Felicity Munroe and Stephen Dexter. These two narrators do quite a few alien romance audiobooks and I like them both quite a lot. Felicity has a pleasant, age-appropriate sounding voice and Stephen has a deep yet soft voice which I really enjoy.
