Audiobook Review: Justice (New Species, #4) by Laurann Dohner. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Justice by Laurann Dohner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Justice North is the face of New Species. Seeing him up close makes Jessie’s heart race. He’s the ultimate alpha male-big, muscular, exotically beautiful…and dangerous. Of course he’s off limits. But then the sexy man purrs and all bets are off.

Jessie Dupree is a mouthy, fiery human female who brings out the animal in Justice. She wants to show him how to relax, and he’s all for anything she wants to do, but Justice has sworn to protect his people and to take a Species mate. He’s torn between the woman he wants and the oath he’s taken.

Jessie knows a relationship between them probably won’t end well; heartbreak is inevitable. But that won’t stop her from freeing the wildness inside Justice and spending every moment she can steal wrapped around his hot body, making him roar with passion.

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💚
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎
Character development: 😠☺️😋😍
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The heroine: Jessie – she had seen Justice North on television but thinks he is even more handsome in person. He gave orders to her bosses at the task force and held the power to change some of the task force policies that she didn’t agree with. She thought the issues were important, but she wasn’t allowed to attend the meetings with Justice.

The Hero: Justice – He is the leader of the New Species who are now citizens of the United States since they were created with tax dollars and born on US soil. The New Species now have two large plots of land which they own. One was called Homeland and the other was called Reservation.

The Story: When a recently released New Species male attacked Jessie, Justice North stepped in and rescued her. He took charge and swore to make sure his people knew how to act in the future. Justice invited Jessie to dinner so they could talk. Her attraction to him grew the more they got to know each other and his to her. Though Justice had planned to mate with another Species and not to a human, he knew he couldn’t have her.

There were some parts of this book that I didn’t like. First of all was her boss Ted who kept saying that he thinks of her as a daughter and would spank her if she didn’t stay back away from the danger. Then after she showed that she was up to the task and killed three men that were after her team and rescued the New Species woman they were after, but she got shot by a sniper as they were getting away. Her father, who was a senator, fired her from the job. She looked weak when she just accepted it even though a different job was offered to her.

This book is told in multiple points of view via solo narration and was narrated by Vanessa Chambers. I liked her narration of the first three books when I listened to them a while back. I have to admit some of the scenes with the two main characters were pretty stilted. I don’t know if it was the story or the narration. I just finished listening to most of the VLG series by the same author and I really enjoyed the narrator on that series, Savannah Richards. Vanessa is good, but not quite as good as Savannah.
