Hot Shot Dragons!

World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☺️🥸😎😘
Aidan she’d already named “McSerious” yesterday, so she stuck to that.
Levi was “The Golden Viking.” Make that “The Happy Golden Viking,”she amended as he grinned and tipped his beer to her.
She already had a soft spot for Titus, who she thought of as “The Quiet Man.” Leaner than the others, his fathomless black eyes were a tad intimidating, but she got the impression that he didn’t miss anything. He ducked his head when she nodded his way.
Drake she mentally labeled “The Glowerer” because he sat the farthest away, even putting space between himself and the others at the table, and barely acknowledged her. Whatever the case, he was annoyingly gorgeous just like all of them, and his red-tinted eyes fascinated her.
The other two, Rivin and Keighan, she’d dubbed “The Trouble Twins.”
The heroine: Delaney Hamilton – she works for a vineyard and wakes up in the middle of a fire. It turns out this same thing has happened to her more than once. She was in a car accident four years ago and since then has epilepsy. It seems that whenever she has a seizure she blacks out and wakes up in the midst of a fire.
The Hero(es): Finn Conleth – he is the leader of the Huracán Enforcers, dragons from different clans that monitor the western half of North America. They watch for fires set by rogue dragons and work to put them out and to catch the rogue dragons. They are in charge of making sure the humans don’t have any proof of the existence of dragons.
The story: When Finn and his crew are called to help put out a dragon fire at a winery very near their own headquarters, they worry that a rogue dragon is nearby. What they find is Delaney attempting to put out the fire herself.
After getting more information on Delaney’s background, Finn is determined to protect the human even though she isn’t a possible dragon mate. Delaney has a dangerous stalker who has been harassing her for years. She moved across the country but the stalker seems to have followed her.
Finn has issues of his own. First and foremost is the fact that he is very attracted to Delaney, but he once had a possible mate who died in the mating process. Finn can’t go through that again and even just being intimate with a woman is difficult since he sees that woman’s death every time he is with another woman.
Finn also has a former teammate named Rune who went rogue and is fighting the establishment because of the mating system they have in place. Each time a possible mate is found (a human who has a mark on the back of her neck when she is near a dragon), the law forces them to bring the female to the mating council and the mating council decides who her mate will be.
Because of the fact that few possible mates are found and the mating council is often biased and gives the potential mates to high ranking dragons from the clans, there is little chance for many dragons to ever get mated. Also, the mating council is often wrong so many of the potential mates are killed in the mating process when the dragon breathes fire into them. If it is a true mate, she will turn into a dragon herself, if not she dies.
Rune and those following him are of the mind that if you find your mate, you should be able to take her as your mate and it should not be under the direction of any mating council. A lot of dragons are beginning to feel this way, and someone in Finn’s crew agrees and begins to help Rune.
