Untamed Lovers by Frankie Love
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Bear Valley: Where rugged men find more than a safe haven — they find their mates.
The gorgeous newcomer in town, Harley MacBeth, is everything I’m not. Charming, outgoing, and stubborn. So damn stubborn. Well, I guess we have that in common.
I’m in bear form when I see the infuriatingly sexy woman painting by the river. In a flash, she becomes a damsel in distress. Good thing this mountain man is here to save her. I pull her from the river, kiss her sweet, pink lips, and damn — I’m a goner.
After a night together, I know she’s my mate — my everything. But we’re opposites, and unless we’re in bed, we’re at odds. Her past is coming for her. And even though she may be the only woman for me, she still has a choice to walk away.
Can I convince her that she belongs to me, before it’s too late?

Mated to a kodiak bear in Alaska!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💛
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌏🌍🌎
Character development: 👤👤👤👤👤
The setting: Bear Valley, Alaska
The Hero: Blaine Koleman – he is the alpha kodiak shifter in Bear Valley. He is determined not to find a mate because he likes his free time and independence. He also is in charge of keeping Bear Valley Kodiak territory, which means keeping out the grizzly bears who have been attacking people.
The heroine: Harley MacBeth – recently got out of a toxic relationship with a man who wanted to change everything about her. She moved to Alaska with three friends and decided that she would speak up for herself, be more outgoing and never let a man tell her what to do or be.
The Love Story: Harley accidentally falls in a river and is knocked out and Blaine saves her. He soon realizes she is his mate and though he never wanted a mate, he knows that he will now never be attracted to anyone else like he is to Harley.
I enjoyed this book much more than I expected! It was dark in parts, but in others it was more like a rom-com. When Harley finds out that Blaine is a shifter it is so funny. I love real reactions to the supernatural. I hate it in books where people just take take the existence of shifters or vampires in stride like they expected them to be real all along. This one did it very well.
One thing I like about shifter books is that the whole true mates things makes insta-love believable and not silly. These mates can hear each other’s thoughts so that makes an instant connection even more believable.
